The committee established to choose the designs was headed by poet and Nobel Prize winner W.B. Yeats. This most beautiful of coins, depicted the native Irish hare, representative of our wildlife and the Harp, the symbol of the Irish state, and our culture. The harp is still found on coins minted in Ireland today. This ornament is completed with golden details on the lettering and beading.
